Forkit is a Mastodon client that respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
What Data We Collect
On Your Device (Stored Securely)
- Mastodon access and refresh tokens (encrypted in Keychain)
- Device push notification token
- Your app preferences
On Our Backend Server
To deliver push notifications, our server (forkit.klemens.ee) stores:
- Your Mastodon access token (for polling notifications from your instance)
- Basic Mastodon account info: account ID, username, display name, avatar URL, and instance domain
- Device token for Apple Push Notification service (APNs)
- Device info: device type, name, OS version, and app version
- Push notification logs: notification content, delivery status, and timestamps
Why We Collect This Data
All data collected on our server is used solely for delivering push notifications to your device. We poll your Mastodon instance for new notifications and forward them to your device via Apple’s push notification service.
How We Store Your Data
- Server data is stored in a MySQL database
- All communication uses HTTPS encryption
- Access tokens are stored securely and only used for their intended purpose
Third-Party Services
Forkit interacts with:
- Mastodon instances – Your chosen Mastodon server handles your posts, follows, and social interactions
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) – Apple delivers push notifications to your device
Data Deletion
When you log out of an account in Forkit, your device registration is removed from our server. This deletes your access token, device token, and associated notification logs for that account.
